Setting up as self employed

Becoming self-employed can be very daunting. Not only may you worry about if you will make enough money to afford to live off or about giving up a permanent job but there is the logistics of it, which often is enough to put some people off.

Setting up a business in terms of registering with HMRC is fairly easy especially if you are going to be a sole trader. It does get a little more complicated for a partnership or limited company. Prior to setting up any business you should take some time to devise a business plan. This should detail what exactly your business is going to offer, pricing structures, set up costs and also the current market for the products or services you are going to be selling. You should also spend some time analysing your potential competitors as this will help you when it comes to working out your prices and also what marketing you will need to do.
