Exams at any level of study mark some defining moments for students. This means that passing, or failing, in an exam in a great way shapes students’ destinies. Although exams may not be the only way of sorting the talented from the untalented, we have to admit that they (exams) are quite crucial because the society has made it so. That said, then, students need to have the necessary exam techniques if they are to meet the grade. While there is no surefire set of exam techniques that students may be expected to follow, there are some universally accepted steps that students, in any level of learning, must adhere to. First and foremost, students must allow themselves enough study time. Rushing in the last minute can be detrimental to success. Another exam technique that students may adopt is forming discussion groups. It is in the discussion groups that students can explain their answers, be corrected if they are wrong, and in so doing make the answers stick in their minds. Though ignored by many, being well hydrated when revising or during an exam is an excellent technique that may tilt the odds in a student’s favor. Taking a lot of water keeps the body hydrated allowing the brain works efficiently.
